SmartSHOW 3D is one of the best slideshow maker for Windows computers. The developer suggests that Mac users can run it using a Windows virtual environment such as Parallels, but you should check if this works for your using the free trial before buying to use on a Mac.

The app is available in multiple languages, including French, Spanish, and German.

What we love about SmartSHOW 3D app?

Teachers are pulled by the demands of two requirements when they create lesson materials: making them engaging and making them quickly.

Kids have grown up in a world of polished multimedia content, even when produced for niche interests and topics. Unless teachers replicate that content's visual stimulation and engagement, they risk losing their students' attention.

SmartSHOW 3D makes it easy to add visual flourishes to photos and videos. The built-in animations and transitions look professional and make each slideshow closer to matching online content. Many use 3D to enhance their looks.

However, if creating these visual extravaganzas takes too long, kids will never see them because teachers won't have time to make them or embellish them with the built-in effects. We found that after a bit of familiarisation with the tools and workflow of SmartSHOW 3D, we could quickly put together a slideshow that looked great.

Creating a slideshow feels creative, and the final result is satisfying even when you use the superfast Slideshow In 5 Minutes templates. Whether it is a lesson presentation, an end-of-school-year collage, or something else, SmartSHOW 3D will make it look great with little effort.

What skills does it teach?

SmartSHOW 3D does not directly teach knowledge or skills. However, teachers of any subject can use it to present lesson materials on any topic. The app is safe and simple enough for kids to present their work on any visual topic.

What age is it appropriate for?

In this review of SmartSHOW 3D, we are mostly considering its use from a teacher's perspective to present lesson material to kids. As a video and photo slideshow creator, it is flexible enough to enhance lesson materials for classes of any age.

Kids could use the app to create slideshows. Their ability to do this will depend on their general computer-using skills. The app follows common usage patterns, so kids who understand other productivity apps will find using it relatively easy to learn.

Is SmartSHOW 3D app easy to use?

SmartSHOW 3D is straightforward for anyone who has used simple video editing or slideshow software before. It follows a typical workflow with a drag-and-drop interface for adding media. You can import whole folders, multiple selected images, or single ones. You can rearrange the order by dragging them around.

The overall design can be from a premade template using the Slideshow in 5 Minutes feature; for full control, you can start with a blank template.

The built-in photo animator is a great way to make images capture kids' attention. Make the water ripple on a still image of a lake or leaves fall in an autumnal scene. It takes a little setting up to define where the animation should occur, but it is still a quick process, and you don't need to do it for every image.

Adding transitions and animations are simple. You can preview the look before choosing and applying them. The app always adds random effects as transitions to save you from doing it manually on lengthy slideshows, but you can change these.

Importantly for teaching materials, you can add text easily. These, along with the animations and transitions, remain editable once added so you can come back and tweak slides as you go.

Adding sound is just as easy through drag-and-drop. You can record your voice within the app for extra convenience.

How will students benefit?

As mentioned earlier in this review, kids are accustomed to high production values in the media they consume. Tools simplifying the production of visuals are in the hands of content producers, and they use these apps to develop designs that would have once been only available to pros. 

SmartSHOW 3D helps teachers level up their lesson materials to keep up. This app will make presentations look modern and engaging. Kids won't necessarily appreciate this, but they do notice when resources are underwhelming and often lose interest.

How will parents benefit?

We're looking at SmartSHOW 3D from an educational perspective, but parents could find this app useful. One of its uses is to make family photos and videos look great. A family vacation's images turned into a SmartSHOW 3D slideshow will be a great way to keep them accessible and viewable.

All family members will likely use the app as everybody tends to capture lots of photos. Kids might make slideshows of their friend's and birthday parties or use them to present projects from their lessons. 

If your family will all use the app, it becomes even better value.

How will teachers benefit?

The many built-in templates, transitions and animations help to overcome the trepidation of staring at a blank project as you can quickly start filling out the content and modify it as you go. The templates help pull your slideshows together if you don't have the design skills to make a coherent presentation.

All the different subscription plans to SmartSHOW 3D allow you to add sound to your slideshows. Adding your voice to one of your slideshows will turn it into an excellent revision aid or remote learning resource for students. 

You can export slideshows in many different formats, so you'll be able to find one that works with any existing software or platforms you use. This also makes it easy to share your creations with other teachers as they can view them in their favourite video apps without having SmartSHOW 3D.

How much does SmartSHOW 3D app cost?

There are three purchase options for SmartSHOW 3D:

Standard is a one-year subscription with a fully functional product including over 100 transitions and various export options.

Deluxe is also a one-year subscription. It adds to the standard plan by doubling the transition effects, adding a royalty-free music library, DVD feature.

Gold edition is a lifetime license, so there will be no recurring purchases after buying it. It adds even more transition and animation effects to the deluxe plan and a handy photo editor with built-in filters.

At the time of this review of SmartSHOW 3D, the Gold edition was a little over double the standard edition's single-year cost but with its extra features and lifetime license, we consider it to offer the best value.

Is SmartSHOW 3D app safe to use?

SmartSHOW 3D contains decorative illustrations as part of its templates. Viewing them all during this review was impossible, but those we saw were family-friendly. 

The app contains a recommendation for an associated book about creating slideshows but no other advertisements.

What can SmartSHOW 3D app improve on?

When you first open SmartSHOW 3D, it starts to access and download images from your computer's OneDrive. Whatever the purpose of this, we feel the app should ask permission before doing it.

Not all of the templates are of equal quality. We'd like to see an update to add extras that use more current stylistic themes. However, with the editing tools and so many template options, you should be able to find one that works.

Overall rating of the app.

SmartSHOW 3D was a lot of fun to use while producing this review. Its educational value comes from the more engaging and clearer presentations it allows to be produced quickly. You may already have a slideshow app, but we'd still recommend looking at SmartSHOW 3D for the extra finesse it adds to presentations and the simple creator tools. SmartSHOW 3D is a five-star app.
