Google I/0 2018 Announcements for Families
For those that are not already aware, each year Google brings together developers from around the globe for an immersive experience focused on exploring the next generation of tech. This year’s festival, as termed by Google, was no exception, where it announced new hardware, software, and various updates for 2018 and beyond.
So, without having to travel to Mountain View, below is what we have deemed as two important announcements for you as developers:
Google announced a feature called Pretty Please at the Google I/O Developer Conference yesterday that will cause an individual’s Google Assistant to respond positively to polite phrasing such as “please” and “thank you.” Pretty Please will even prompt a child to say “the magic word” when they give a command.
The Family Link app from Google helps parents stay in the loop of a child (under the age of 13) when using an Android device. It allows parents to create a Google Account for a child, like that of an adult, with access to most of Google services, whilst helping to set certain digital ground rules i.e. manage apps, keep an eye on screen time, and set a bedtime on a child’s device.
