Canva is a popular graphic design app that allows you to create and edit images, graphics, social media posts, flyers, and more.
While it does have an Android app, some features are hidden behind an expensive paywall, with plans starting at around $12.99/month and getting more expensive the more team members you add.
Also, while Canva is great on desktop computers, many users report frequent problems when using the Canva Android app. Common complaints include the app taking a long time or getting stuck when saving an image to the device, the app crashing, and the app not loading pictures. Canva also isn’t very useful if you want to beautify and edit selfies and portrait pictures of yourself.
Here is the list of the best Canva alternatives for web browsers, iOS and Android. These include both simple editors and more advanced ones.
1. Desygner
Desygner is an extraordinary app for creating professional posters, flyers, social media posts, and other graphics for personal or commercial use. Sign up with your Facebook or Google account to get started.
Desygner Pro+ is a lot cheaper than Canva Pro, with plans starting at just $4.99/month (always check the pricing page for updated pricing information). It gives you access to many of the features you would get on Canva Pro.
For example, you can schedule posts to be published on social media in advance or create your own brand kit, with your unique icons and colors.
In addition, Desygner gives premium members unlimited access to over 125 million photos from Shutterstock! That alone makes its premium plan worth it.
Another cool feature is the ability to have your posters and flyers printed near you through its global network of printers and delivered straight to your doorstep. Canva offers this too with Canva Print — it’s cool to see that there is another app that can compete with it.
Overall, I found Desygner pretty comparable to Canva in terms of the layout. It’s different, of course, but it’s still easy to navigate, and there are many templates to choose from.
Most templates are only for premium users, but there are many that are free as well. It really depends on the type of graphic you are creating — for example, there are many more free social media templates than free printable templates.
In addition to templates, you can go to the image section in the bottom menu to create a graphic from one of the free photos, illustrations, or elements.
One thing I liked about Desygner is that instead of needing to pay per premium image or template, you can buy credits in bulk. Most templates use a single credit, so buying credits in bulk is a great way to save money.
On Canva, you often have to pay $1 per premium picture. On Desygner, you can buy 30 credits for just $19.99, for example, without paying for a premium plan.

2. Adobe Spark Post
While both Canva and Spark have their pros and cons, Adobe Spark Post — the mobile version of Adobe Spark — stands out in a few areas.
For one, it lets you resize images for free. While Canva does let you resize images, you have to sign up for the premium plan to be able to do that.
Adobe Spark Post will give you a whole list of ready-made dimensions to choose from, based on the type of social media post you are creating. While it’s easiest to just choose from the predefined dimensions, it is also possible to create your own custom dimensions if you don’t see the ones you want.
There are some other benefits of Spark as well. Most of the stock photos on Canva are hidden behind a paywall.
While some are available for free, you do need the paid version of Canva to fully enjoy its full stock library. Adobe Spark, on the other hand, provides thousands of stock photos for free.
In addition, there are thousands of templates you can use to quickly make beautiful graphics for social media or other purposes. All in all, there are over 100,000 assets you can add to your graphics.
Adobe Spark is also great for animation. Canva recently introduced animated posts as well, but originally, Spark was the superior app for creating animated social media posts.
Adobe Spark does have a premium option as well, but it is a bit cheaper than Canva Pro, so you’ll end up saving money even if you do get the premium version.
The personal premium plan at Adobe Spark costs just $9.99/month or $99.99/year, compared to the $12.99/month or $119.99/year that Canva charges.
Adobe Spark’s team plan is a bit more expensive than the cheapest Canva Pro plan (which allows you to add up to five people). However, it seems that Adobe Spark’s team plan does not limit the number of team members you can add, so you can add more team members without it getting more expensive.

3. GoDaddy Studio
GoDaddy Studio, by the web hosting giant GoDaddy, is another great alternative to Canva for Android. It used to be known as Over, so you may still see it referred to by that name.
GoDaddy Studio is better than Canva in certain things. One thing that stood out to me was that not only was the premium plan a lot cheaper than Canva Pro, but it also gives you a mobile-optimized website you can use to showcase your work.
The free version of GoDaddy Studio does have a lot of limitations. You can only use select images and graphics, basic fonts, and standard templates.
However, the free version starts at only $6.99/month, which is almost half of what Canva Pro charges.
Not only do you get access to the complete library of photos, videos, graphics, and templates, but you even get a website!
Actually, the premium version of GoDaddy Studio is part of the Websites + Marketing plan, which will give you access to a lot more than a simple website and a photo design studio. You will be able to connect a custom domain and secure it with an included SSL certificate, with on-the-go editing and 24/7 customer support.
Also, you can use the included website templates to quickly create a beautiful site. The website builder is easy to use and will allow you to customize those templates.
There are some things you can’t do on the basic $6.99/month plan, such as accepting payments. You’ll have to upgrade to a higher plan for that.
You can simply use the mobile GoDaddy Studio app to create designs for your social media posts and never build a website — it is still cheaper than Canva Pro.
Also, I found the GoDaddy Studio app a bit simpler to use than the Canva app. It has fewer features and fewer templates available for free, but it’s great for creating a quick Facebook post or Instagram story.
Click on either “Facebook Post” or “Instagram Story” in the app, choose one of the free templates, and then add images, text, graphics, shapes, or videos. There is a built-in library with free graphics for various themes that you can add to your posts.
For purposes other than Facebook posts and Instagram stories, I’d still stick with Canva.

4. Picsart
Picsart is great for two things: editing your own selfies or pictures and creating quick graphics for social media.
If you want to do both, I’d suggest using Picsart instead of Canva, because Canva doesn’t really have any selfie beautifying features. To get started with editing your own pictures or videos, select one from your diary.
When editing a video, you can crop, trim, adjust, and add audio, text, stickers, photos, and more. I think Picsart is a great app for editing your selfies before posting them to social media or to your dating profile.
If you just want to create a graphic for social media, and you don’t have any of your own pictures to work with, you can use one of the free images from the stock library. Alternatively, you can choose one of the backgrounds so you can work from a blank slate.
Then, you can create a graphic by adding images, text, effects, stickers, etc. — just like you would when editing your own picture.
While Picsart wasn’t really made for advanced graphic design, it’s still one of the best apps for creating quick graphics for social media.
While Picsart is free to use, it does have a premium plan, which gives you access to: Over 1,000 stickers, 100 filters and templates, brushes, premium editing tools.
It is a lot cheaper than Canva Pro, with plans starting at just $4.66/month. Always check this page for updated pricing information.

5. Kriadl
Kriadl is another great app like Canva. An awesome thing about Kriadl is that you do not need to create an account to start designing, unlike Canva.
Just open the app, find a free template, and start working on it. There is a wide range of categories to choose from — in that regard, Kriadl can compete with Canva any day.
You can move around images in the graphic, add images, change the background, add text, and more. You can even add animations!
Click on the “motion” option when working on a graphic. You can add various fade-ins and other animations (however, only a few basic animations are available)
A lot of the images and templates on Kriadl are premium. However, it is cheaper than Canva Pro — plans start at just $4.99/month, which is less than half of what Canva Pro costs.
Not only that, but there is a weekly plan as well, something that Canva Pro doesn’t offer. It costs just $1.99/week, and it gives you full access to all the premium templates and photos.
If you are only using Kriadl for a week or two, you can save money by signing up for the weekly plan and then canceling your subscription when you don’t need it anymore.
However, Kriadl does have some drawbacks, which is why it is not my favorite alternative to Canva. For one, the app can be a bit slow and buggy at times; in addition, the editing options are very basic.
Finally, when using Kriadl for free, there are often annoying ads that take up the entire screen and last for a few seconds before you can close them. When trying to be productive, it can be frustrating when those ads pop up.

6. Flyers, Poster Maker, Graphic Design, Banner Maker (Apps You Love)
This seemingly simple app is actually a great alternative to Canva if you need to create a flyer, poster, or banner for online use or any kind of event. You don’t even need to create an account to get started — simply open the app and browse available templates.
Once you choose a template, you can add text, images, graphics, shapes, and more. One thing I liked was that you can quickly hide certain elements of the template.
The editing features are pretty basic, but they do the trick. There is a quick tutorial video on how to use the app, which you can find in the settings area, but you probably won’t need to watch it — the app is pretty intuitive.
However, the ads can get annoying. Not only do ads pop up at random times and take up the entire screen, but there will be an ad at the bottom of the app when editing a graphic.
However, you can remove ads for just $4.99/month or $29.99/year. Do check the app for updated pricing information for your region.
7. Social Media Post Maker, Thumbnail & Cover Maker (Apps You Love)
Social Media Post Maker, by Apps You Love, is another awesome app that is similar to Canva, but for creating social media graphics.
You can also create a brand kit with your images, icons, and text, but you will need a premium plan for that. You can add brand fonts, texts, slogans, and color presets to your kit.
The ads can get a bit annoying at times, but you can pay to remove them. Pricing starts at $4.99/month or $30.99/year, which is cheaper than Canva.
Always check the app for updated pricing information in your region.
With Canva, you’d have to pay up to 4x that amount (on the yearly plan) to be able to create a brand kit.
Overall, it’s a good app, and there is a very good selection of templates available for free. I don’t really recommend signing up for the premium plan unless the ads really annoy you or you want to create a brand kit.
One downside of Social Media Post Maker is that the app can be a bit slow to load at times.
8. Posters: Graphic Design, Video Story Template
Posters is an awesome app like Canva for creating beautiful posters for your social media profiles, website, emails, or offline events.
You can get started without even creating an account or signing in, unlike Canva — just open the app and choose from one of the available templates.
I really liked this app, because there is such a huge selection of free templates available, and all of them are pretty good. They’re a lot better than the basic, boring templates you will find on a lot of other Canva alternatives.
Once you select a template, you can click on the + sign to add text, stickers, a picture, or a GIF.
You can even add animations for free and then add background music to the animations you create. You can upload your own audio or choose from music in the library.
I liked that you can rearrange the order in which elements will show up in an animated graphic by simply dragging and dropping them in a list. Also, you can choose between three different animations for each element.
Although Posters is a great app, I will admit that it is not the most intuitive. It’s not the most complicated app out there, but some things are not that obvious, such as how to create an animation.
Nevertheless, I kind of liked it more than Canva, as the interface just seemed more pleasant — once you figure out where everything is, that is.
Also, it costs just a fraction of the price — plans start at just $3/month.
9. VistaCreate
VistaCreate was Crello earlier. It is an awesome app like Canva for creating graphics for social media or email. I loved how simple it was compared to Canva.
Although it might seem like all the templates are in one place at first and not organized by category, click the + button at the bottom of the screen to browse templates by category.
There are tons of awesome templates available for free, and you can customize them by adding pictures, videos, music, animations, and more.
The premium plan is also a lot cheaper than Canva Pro — check out pricing plans here.

10. Logo Maker: Graphic Design And Logo Templates
Logo Maker is a cool little app you can use instead of Canva to create logos for your company. You don’t need to create an account to start using the app, and you will find a wide range of templates available for free.
I felt that some logo templates lack originality and that the ads can get annoying. Nevertheless, if you want to create a simple logo for a small side hustle or for a new social media account you are setting up, it’s actually a great alternative to Canva.
Despite the logo templates being free, you can still create a somewhat unique logo by adding additional text and stickers, changing the background, and adding different filters.
You will be surprised by how much a single filter can change the look of your logo.
I liked how easy and intuitive the app was, and that it is entirely free.
