Toca Life: Town

Toca Life: Town features familiar Toca Boca characters in a fully interactive town. Kids create their own games with its inhabitants, visit six locations, and discover hidden treasures nestled in unlikely places. 

There are seven buildings, twelve characters, and hundreds of objects to move and manipulate. Children can host a birthday party, solve a mystery at the police department, go grocery shopping, cook a family meal, or create their own stories and scenarios. Everything they do in a particular building is saved immediately upon exiting that building so that children can return at anytime. And, anything that children do to a character (e.g., place an item in their hands, put on a hat, etc.) is also saved and carried into the next area. However, if children wish to reset everything, that is an option as well.

It provides a framework where characters can be moved in and around a town that has a store, a police station, a park, a restaurant, and houses and apartments. The dozen characters are diverse, and the detail throughout is really impressive and makes the learning even more fun. 

Toca Life: Town has excellent long-term play value; it's completely open ended, encouraging imaginative play and storytelling to all who visit. This is one of the best apps for toddlers for creativity and exploration. In this app, kids rule Toca Town and can explore six different areas and make up activities for the 21 town inhabitants. There are also hidden treasures to discover throughout the app.

Why we like it

Because Toca Town is fairly new, its creators are still working out some of the game’s kinks. However, parents are raving over the concept of the game itself. This game introduces many real world activities to kids and, at the same time, allows each activity to be powered by the user’s imagination. In it, the child can experience everyday activities such as grocery shopping, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. It’s real-world experience, right from the convenience of your tablet or smartphone.
