Toca Lab Review

What is Toca Lab?

Toca Lab: Elements is another educational app in the Toca Boca line made for endless scientific exploration.

Through exploration, children can unlock all 118 elements on the periodic table. While the placement of elements on the periodic table is accurate, the experiments to transform those elements are not so this is obviously for beginner scientists to familiarize themselves with the elements and chemistry lab equipment.

Is Toca Lab free?

Toca Lab is not free and is available to download on iOS and Android devices with a one-time purchase price of $3.99

How much does Toca Lab cost?

Toca Lab is available for both iOS and Android with a one-time purchase price of $3.99, and does not feature advertisements or in-app purchases.

Is Toca Lab safe for kids?

Toca Lab is safe for kids as this app that is designed with a child’s safety and success in mind. Toca Lab: Elements is likely best played with an adult to help guide children as it can quickly become complicated (if the child is playing for purely educational purposes).

Featuring no third party advertising, Toca Lab takes into account the concerns of parents while still providing an exciting platform for children.

Features Toca Lab; What we like about it

Toca Lab: Elements will help budding scientists along by suggesting which experiments to do with each element, such as suggesting whether to put it in the centrifuge, Bunsen burner, etc., which will then unlock even more elements to experiment with.

All of the lab equipment in Toca Lab: Elements is easy to operate with simple swipes to turn equipment off and on, as well as to spin the centrifuge (tap and hold finger to stop the spinning), in addition to dragging and dropping.

While moving around the lab and performing experiments is pretty intuitive, things get a little confusing when children begin to try to decipher why and how elements are created through experimentation.

How Toca Lab works?

The point of Toca Lab is to unlock all the elements in the Periodic Table. This is done by dragging your elemental friend to one of five pieces of lab equipment where it can be heated, cooled, spun, electrified or mixed with chemicals. Most of the time nothing will happen, except that the blob looks a little disgruntled, but sometimes a party popper will go off and a new blob will appear, looking slightly surprised but ultimately content with its new existence.

You can then repeat the process with the new element to try and unlock more. At any point you can look at the toonified table to see what you have unlocked and what is left, along with a little graphical hint of what to do to get new elements.

What skills will children develop?

Toca Lab: Elements helps kids gain valuable factual knowledge, build thinking skills, and develop an understanding of the field of science in general. Your child will poke, squeeze, burn, freeze, spin, electrify, and magnify their way to an understanding of what makes up the world around them. They’ll also learn how to ask questions and think outside the box, all while getting important practice with focus, flexibility, and working memory.

Final Thoughts

Toca Lab elements app is an educational game that is designed for kids to learn elements in an easy way and to increase their skills by using this app.
