Our Experience of using Pixlr

We used Pixlr and identified the features we liked:

•  Background blur: I can blur the background manually and choose the shape and effect of the blur.

•  Size and shape: I can adjust the proportions and crop the images for different social networks. The app has common aspect ratios for this.

•  Frames: I can add frames to make my photos more attractive and enhance my stories and posts on Instagram. The frames fit well with the photos.

•  Single color: I can pick one color in the photo to stand out and change the rest to black and white. I can also change the color of the selection. I do this from the 'splash' section.

•  Text: I can add text to my photos with different fonts that I can download from the app. I can also change the size, color, and position of the text.

•  Creative touch: I can make my photos colorful like Andy Warhol's art. The app has filters for this in the filters section. I can adjust the opacity of the filters.

•  Retro look: I can make my photos look old-fashioned with 'presets' in the filters gallery. The app has 'vintage' and 'too old' folders for this.

•  Hand drawn look: I can make my photos look like drawings with watercolor, pastel, charcoal, or colored pencil. The app has filters for this in the 'stylize' section. I can adjust them to make them realistic.

•  Stickers: I can decorate my photos with stickers that are in style. The app has them organized by themes for easy access.

•  Collages: I can combine multiple photos in a collage. The app has a system for this on the main screen. I can choose the layout, margin, and color of the collage.

Bottom Line

Autodesk’s Pixlr is a pretty good app for basic photo editing. The app has a neat interface that makes it easy to find effects and filters for you to apply. We found a very useful tool called “Pixelate” that allows you to quickly blur out any part of an image, apart from easy to use tools to edit the image. We also liked the fact that they use simple terms such as “Brighten” and “Darken” to name all of their editing tools as it makes the app more accessible to everyone.
