About Notability
Notability is one of the most versatile apps available for notes taking. You can type or write notes on notebooks and organize them into folders inside the app. However, it also lets you annotate PDFs, which can be great for grading student papers. Notability app is available only on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Notability is among the top 3 ranked productivity apps on the App Store. So it shouldn’t be surprising that it carries a 4+ star rating from over 33,000 users.
Notability Review
Notability app is a simple note taking app that provides a wide range of note-taking and sketching tools, enabling you to capture any particular detail.
Notability also records audio and lets you take notes at the same time. So, you could be having a reading conference with a student, or testing their reading fluency with the audio recorder, while taking notes at the same time on your iPad.
One of the primary reasons is because of the workflows that teachers and students can create in order to retrieve, annotate and submit work. Plus, Notability integrates Dropbox, Google Drive and Box drive. If teachers set up a shared folder with their class via Google Drive, students can access their documents, annotate them and push them back to their teacher via a privately shared folder. Also, students can open PDFs from any website in Notability and annotate directly on the PDF.
How much does Notability cost?
Notability costs a one-time fee of $8.99 on iPad and iPhone. Notability is a one-time purchase and has no monthly subscription.
Is Notability available for Android or Windows
Notability is not available for Android or Windows but there are plenty of alternatives with similar functionality.
Notability app integrates handwriting, photos, and typing in a single note so you can make it easy for people to apprehended your projects. Notability app provides a wide range of note-taking and sketching tools, enabling you to capture every single detail.
You can use these tools to create beautiful, hand-crafted notes and sketches. You can also scale, rotate, and recolor your ideas and sketches to map out any of your ideas more clearly. You can also explore the big picture by combining sketches, outlines, and type.
Notability app allows you to easily organize your notes so you always know where to find what, especially when it matters most. It also lets you share your notes with colleagues or study partners through Google Drive, AirDrop, Email and Dropbox. You can even markup photos, annotate PDFs, or create original content to broadcast your vision to the people that matter. Though with free, note-taking powerhouses like Evernote and OneNote out there, Notability is the winner here. The way it handles audio is far superior to any other handwriting notes app currently available.
Notability app enables you to receive verbal and written comments or feedback from your team for easy collaboration. On top of that, it allows you to review audio comments that are linked to written feedback on your iPad, iPhone and Mac.
iCloud helps you stay organized by letting you keep all your notes in one place so it can be accessible from anywhere, in the office, at home, or on-the-go. It also updates your data library regularly as well as keeping your data secure. Notability provides a perfect platform for creating and organizing your work.
Which is better Notability or Goodnotes
Display and user interface - Both apps make it easy to find and navigate content. GoodNotes 5 will display your notes, folders in either a list or grid layout whereas Notability displays notes on the right side and folders on the left side.
Document Management and Creation - With Notability, document management is straightforward. With GoodNotes, when opening a new note, you can import a file (like a PDF) or open a blank new document and apply a paper background template, like graph or standard lined paper. Both apps are designed to help you annotate PDFs, take handwritten notes, and keep track of these smaller documents.
Taking Notes - Notability supports split-screen view whereas GoodNotes supports document tabs. Notability offers a unique audio recording feature for note-takers which GoodNotes doesn't.
Storage & Backup - By default, both GoodNotes and Notability use Apple’s iCloud sync to back up your notes. Also, both apps permit searching text within notes, importing data from a number of sources, and exporting notes to a variety of sources.
Pricing - Notability will probably cost you less in the long run because GoodNotes requires users to purchase the new version of their software upon each major release.
Is Notability better than Evernote
The biggest difference between the two is that Notability provides an integrated note taking experience. You have 4-5 different sources – audio, scribbled notes, drawings, typed text, imported images, and PDFs – and Notability binds them into one whole contextual bundle.
If you’re a student, you’re going to love Notability. When you create a new note, you get a big white area that you can draw, scribble or type on. You can also add images, PDFs and audio recordings, and you have the ability to highlight.
