About Mussila Wordplay

Mussila Wordplay is an app that has been created by a developer who already has another well used app. Mussila Wordplay is the next in their growing suite of apps and focusses on helping children over the age of 6 improve their reading, word recognition and comprehension through a series of games, practice formats and creative elements.

The app utilises a wide range of learning styles and skills to help first engage young children to use the app and then to further develop their knowledge of reading and comprehension. Children can pick to either work through a number of different scenarios that requires them to read a word and then place it next the object it is linked to on a picture. There are a wide range of these scenarios from the living room to the moon and school!

Through this ‘learning’ side children are able to develop their abilities through this more formalised learning model. Then in the ‘play’ section there are a number of different games that can be played to again further children’s abilities in their reading, spelling and comprehension. Some of the games include a spelling game, quizzes, story quizzes as well as sentence builder and connector games. There really is a very wide range of games to support all different types of language learning.

Mussila Wordplay Review

What is Mussila Wordplay app?

Mussila Wordplay is an app that has been designed to help children learn and embed all the skills needed to be confident and competent readers. Broken down into a number of different aspects, such as learn, olay and create the app teaches the different aspects of reading, word recognition, comprehension and spelling through a wide varieties of ways.

What we love about Mussila Wordplay

What I really like about Mussila Wordplay is how comprehension the content of the app is. There is so much content within it that a user could spend a large amount of time using the app and never experience it the same way twice. This is great in terms of the learning journey of the user as they can progress through so many different elements and games that they will never become bored. However, with the way the app is setup it does still allow repetition so users can go back over certain elements if they wish to help them further compound their learning and personalise their experience.

What skills does it improve?

Mussila Wordplay app allows users to develop their language and comprehension skills, listening skills and working memory. However, the app also strengthens students’ vocabulary and speech too due to the content and the gameplay of the app.

What age is it appropriate for?

Mussila Wordplay is aimed at children over the age of 6 so children who are into their journeys in becoming readers.

Is Mussila Wordplay easy to use?

For both the learner and the parent the app is incredibly easy to use and access.

How will students benefit?

Children will benefit from having such a wide range of content that focussing on all the main areas on becoming more literate, a better reader and being able to know and use a wider range of vocabulary. The content is literally one of the most comprehensive I have seen for an app on this market as it cover not only the reading elements but the spelling and comprehension elements too.

How will teachers benefit?

Teachers can benefit from knowing that children will have this better understanding of reading, comprehension etc and they are able to personalise the learning for children by recommending different aspects of the app for them to use. There is also an option for schools to take advantage of the in class and remote learning aspects of the app brining the app in line with the types of learning we have seen over the last couple of years.

How will parents benefit?

Parents, especially if they encourage their child to use the app will be able to see them expanding and strengthening their ability when it comes to reading as well their children’s comprehension skills, their working memory and their spelling abilities.

What Mussila Wordplay can improve on?

There aren’t really any things that I could say that the app needs to improve upon and anything is really being a bit ‘not-picky’ however the one area that would really make this app excel and bring it above any other on the market is the artwork and look of the app. The design seems a little rushed at times and might detract a little from the awesome content that exists within the app.

How much does Mussila Wordplay cost?

Mussila Wordplay is free to download but there is a 1 month subscription cost of £5.49 or a lifetime purchase of £17.99. When either Mussila Music or Mussila Wordplay is downloaded and a subscription is taken out the user is offered the other app for free download too.

What is included with the free version vs. paid?

The free version gives a limited amount of content in the app whereas the payment allows full access to all the app depending on the subscription chosen, 1 month or unlimited.

Is Mussila Wordplay safe to use

Mussila Wordplay app content is completely child-friendly and contains no content that could be considered inappropriate or unsafe for children.

Overall rating of the app

Mussila Wordplay app has received a 5 star EAS rating and this is due to the premise of the site, the learning within it and how the site goes about teaching the users. I was very much impressed by all aspects of Mussila Wordplay.
