Busuu: Learn Spanish

This app for learning Spanish focuses heavily on oral practice. Its users learn vocabulary, practice writing and then editing one another’s work, practice speaking with native Spanish speakers, and even record mock conversations.

In each lesson, you will have access to vocabulary, writing practice, speaking practice, voice recordings and a final review. You’ll cover all four areas of language learning (reading, writing, speaking, listening), but the speaking practice is definitely the best part. 

The free version is enough to get you to an advanced level, but it doesn’t include personalized lesson plans, grammar lessons or offline access.

Fabulous app that contains extensive vocabulary lists that will help learners to grasp the day-to-day words of the language. The app will help Basic Level to Intermediate learners to get to grips with language learning. The app includes over 3000 words, key phrases and 150 topics. The topics within the app match with GCSE level topics too. The app is interactive and provides tests and feedback on learning. 

Inside each lesson, it takes you through the lesson material in a well paced sequence.

• You start off with learning some key vocabulary
• This prepares you for the lesson dialog
• After the lesson dialog, you practice writing on the topic for other members to see (and hopefully edit)
• Then you arrive at the speaking practice session with native speakers in the community
• Next you record the phrases indicated on the screen
• Finally there is a lesson review

In other words, you’ll be covered in all four areas of language learning (reading, writing, speaking, listening) – but I feel like this is a platform best used to learn spoken Spanish.
