Kokotree: Preschool Learning Review
What we love about Kokotree
Kokotree has a simple and effective design. The app is divided into two programs, ‘Budding Sprouts’ and ‘Little Seeds’. Each video in the Budding Sprouts section has a beautifully illustrated animal front cover to engage the children and is titled with the educational objective e.g. ‘Single Letter Phonics’, ‘Counting 1 to 10’. This allows the parents to quickly guide their child to a video relevant to what they want them to learn about. The Little Seeds program is full of nursery rhymes, sing-alongs and stories to widen their vocabulary and develop their understanding of the world around them. The app also contains letter tracing games and animal inspired bedtime stories. Videos can be downloaded for offline use.
What skills does it improve?
Kokotree utilises friendly animal characters to teach children about a multitude of different concepts, developing all of the child’s primary cognitive skills: reading, learning, remembering, logical reasoning, and paying attention. Through the videos, songs and activities, children will learn about phonics, the alphabet, numbers and much more through their animal character teachers. Children will also begin to develop their musical skills as they join in with the songs extending their vocabulary and developing their attention skills through rhyme and actions.

We think Kokotree could improve on:
It would be beneficial if the songs in the app had the words to them appearing at the bottom to aid the sing-along for parents and introduce key words to older children using the app.
The letter tracing games are useful and it would be nice to see the games section of the app expanded to include more interactive content related to the videos in the other sections.
