How does Tappity work?
Tappity is solid, and kids will learn many things by playing with the app if they are patient. The educational content is excellent. It is targeted just right at its audience's age range. Complex topics are not avoided but broken down and explained in a clear and age-suitable way. Concepts are explained, demonstrated, and illustrated perfectly for young scientists.
Haley presents all of the lessons. She is an enthusiastic, entertaining, and friendly guide. She is ably assisted by her less knowledgeable but amiable sidekick, RoboSteve, who guides the user through the app.
Haley makes this app feel like a high-quality children's entertainment/educational show of the sort to be found on children's television. The format of an app makes it more than just a passive programme. Children can make decisions, answer questions, guide the experience in ways that television just could not allow. Haley carries out experiments and encourages children to re-watch them but with different decisions so that they can observe new outcomes.
Every week a new show focussing on a single topic with a science theme is added to the app in the form of a game show. Past ones remain accessible and future ones are promoted to build anticipation.
At the end of each topic, children earn Tappity degrees. Stickers and photos that combine children with graphical content provide further incentives to stay with Tappity's programme.
