Read Along by Google Review

What is Read Along?

The Read Along app helps children with reading and speaking of a language through visual and audio cues. The app assists in learning a language with storybooks containing dozens of chapters on different themes. It has a virtual assistant named Diya, which uses speech recognition to identify if a student is struggling with pronouncing a word or a phrase, and help them accordingly. There’s also multi-child profile support. This allows parents to create multiple profiles for personalized recommendations.

What we liked about Read Along?

Read Along is available in 9 languages across 180+ countries. The concept is simple, your kid reads out the stories aloud and the in-app reading assistant provides feedback on it. The feedback could be verbal or visual to improve the kid’s reading ability.

Read Along offers a catalog of 50 stories in Hindi and 40 in English, sourced from Storyweaver.org.in. Aimed at primary grade children, Read Along app is optimised for native Hindi speakers, and uses Google’s speech recognition and text-to-speech technology.

One of the best features of the app is that it works offline. You can download learning content and stories while you’re connected to WiFi and use it offline. You don’t need to sign in to the app, and Google says it sends no data back to its servers.
