About Elephant Learning App

The Elephant Learning app is available on iOS (iPad and iPhone), Android and a web-based desktop version (Mac and PC). It claims to be the most effective math learning platform ever invented because the application propels learning faster than any other platform and the learning lasts longer. Elephant Math supports student from the age of 2-16 who are struggling with math concepts. Elephant Learning is great to use at home, in the classroom, and as a homeschool tool.

The developers have partnered with the University of Denver to help create ‘Advanced Curriculum Technology’ or ACT for short.  The apps are free from in-app adverts and in-app purchases. However, it is noted that the mobile application supports the online Elephant Learning platform. This service has a free trial option but is a subscription service for those who wish to use this app on a regular basis, whether that is parents and children or schools and pupils.

Elephant Learning App Review

Our teacher team has compiled their Elephant Learning review and found that Elephant Math is a great math app for kids! Elephant learning app available for iOS and Android supports the Elephant online learning platform that can be played as a desktop version (PC and Mac) and this is where the best learning experience can be found. The online Learning platform is very easy to navigate and has many functions and features that will appeal to both parents and teachers alike.

The developer states that:

  • 4 out of 5 Students start Kindergarten already behind
  • Almost half of 1st and 2nd graders have Maths anxiety
  • After 10-Minutes of game play, you will receive a free assessment
  • In 10-Minutes of playtime a day, children in our system gain 1 year in the first three months

What we love about Elephant Learning

Elephant Learning has a unique feature in that it will detect the gaps in understanding of the student as they work through the activities and adapt these accordingly. At the time we completed our Elephant Learning reviews student enters their name, gender and age to provide a tailored starting point for learning. The Elephant maths platform provides helpful tutorial videos and the vision of the developers. The developers may consider choose a character from one the themes. This would be particular useful for user and classroom use.

Elephant Learning app provides a choice of 32 interactive maths games that are based on a particular theme and title. The graphics and visual prompts of this application are beautifully presented and really help the learner become involved in maths whilst having fun. Each character when pressed has its own sound and quirky characteristics. We particularly liked the howling wolf and the giggling snails. The system has also been updated to include Algebra.

Each Elephant Leaning math game is a series of activities with worded voice commands. Our users loved the fact that their name is read out in the instructions. The voice commands are varied in sound and very clear.

What we love about Elephant Learning app is that activities nurture the student through the levels enabling them to gain confidence whilst having fun. The activities range from giving the correct number of objects to removing objects to using a number line. The topics increase as the user plays more. A question mark in the corner provides a prompt help and the home button returns the player to the themed screen. The screen is very well designed, simple, uncluttered and intuitive. When a question is answered correctly the user is awarded a celebration screen until the next exercise. A wrong answer sometimes provides some feedback but very often just moves on. We are unsure whether this feedback should be consistent. The developers may also think about including a reward system that creates a leader board. This would be ideal if Elephant Learning app was used in a classroom or a group scenario.

Is Elephant Learning easy to use?

Yes, Elephant Leaning is easy to use. It goes without saying that the developers have created an intuitive math learning system that is fun and engaging, however, where the platform really excels is the User Dashboard.

At the time of this Elephant Learning review the dashboard is split into three categories:

  • Overview
  • Playtime Analysis
  • Elephant Learning Worksheets

The over provides displays the ‘Elephant age’, the child’s name, time spent on the application and a topics report. The ‘Elephant age’ is a measure of the user is doing compared to peers. It is the age that a student would typically be working with these concepts in school. You can see areas being assessed as well as those that need some attention. Also within this section is the ability to ‘Pause’ or ‘Resume’ the assessment as well as a topic description and milestones for the child to reach.

The Playtime Analysis shows the amount of time spent in the form of ‘Average Weekly’, ‘Maximum Weekly’, ‘Last Week’, and ‘This Week’. Again this is ideal for parents or teachers wishing to monitor the amount of time spent within the learning platform.  Parents or teachers can set the target bar to the required amount of time. ‘Unlimited Playtime’ can be turned ‘on or off’ in the ‘Manage Account’ section of the Dashboard.

The printable Elephant Learning worksheets provides further learning for homework or in class activities that are not necessarily linked to a computer screen.

Where this online platform really excels is the ‘Teacher’s Platform’. Here the teacher can add students and classes as well as dedicated folders for individual students. This is a powerful tool where single topics can be assigned for bespoke groups such as Special Needs, Weaker students and Talented students. Here the teacher can also see the active subjects as well as the active students. Students can be dragged easily into dedicated folders.

At the time of this Elephant Learning review another unique feature added to the online platform that we love are the user login tokens. Here the user can print a QR (Quick Response) code that can be scanned for the user to log straight into their accounts, this is ideal for learning on the go or viewing progress. This could also be used as a simple method for students to scan and log in prior to the lesson starting. As we mentioned in the previous version the developers may consider whether some of this data can be exported into a more familiar format for a teacher such as an Excel spreadsheet so further analysis could be made.

Our overall thoughts on Elephant Learning

As a mathematical learning platform this is by far one of the best we have seen. The unique learning system is constantly being updated with new content, features and games. It is clear that the developers have an in-depth understanding of how Maths should be taught and they can be commended for the system they have developed. This application and online learning platform comes highly recommended by the EducationalAppstore.com. Whether you are using this app at home, in the classroom or for homeschooling, we love Elephant Learning.
