Duolingo Review

Duolingo is the world's most popular language learning app. Learning a language is hard, but no one said it couldn’t be fun. Adopting a new language takes a lot of effort, especially when you’re doing it by yourself.

Duolingo is a completely free language learning app that makes the monumental challenge of becoming fluent in another language a joy. Duolingo’s training starts you off with the very basics, so even if you have never spoken a single word of Spanish or any other language you wish to learn, there’s nothing to worry about.

The minds behind Duolingo seem to understand that mastering a language is a process. Even after you’ve completed a module, the app will remind you to come back and review after some time because it may have faded from your memory. People learn languages by practicing listening, reading, writing, speaking and conversation with Chatbots.

Duolingo is a good English learning app to get extra practice at home or learn basic grammar.

The majority of users on Duolingo are beginners who are just getting started in learning a new language. Most users are language hobbyists that enjoy the gamification of the app, and are passively learning.

Duolingo: How does it work?

Duolingo is one of the best example of a simple language app. User can create a free account, set up a profile, choose their target language, set weekly goals and set up reminders.

You will be asked to sign up in one of the two ways: Email or via Facebook which will allow you to share updates and progress on your Facebook timeline.

When you register you must choose a language course that will teach you your target language (you are trying to learn) in your base language (learning from a language).

Courses are divided into modules with lessons within them. Each lesson contains a handful of reading, speaking and listening exercises, and most are paired with cute animations relevant to the topic. As you reach higher levels, new vocabulary is highlighted in yellow and more advanced users can jump ahead with a placement test.

The gamified learning system of the app helps you learn languages quickly by spending twenty minutes a day. Duolingo structures your lessons that teaches you about seven new words based on a topic and skill points being awarded for completing the lessons.

Is Duolingo good?

Duolingo is a great way to get introduced to learning a new language. Duolingo is best for casual learners who may want to dabble in a few different languages, may struggle with staying motivated, or aren’t willing to spend money. Duolingo makes language learning more fun and less intimidating.
