Dr. Mario World, like the classic title, is a match three game where the goal is to clear viruses off of the board by matching them with colored capsules. Players are tasked with using strategy to clear the viruses with the fewest number of moves, as capsules are limited, which is a deviation from the original gameplay. Dr. Mario World is a freemium game and while it's free to play, there are optional in-app purchases. Dr. Mario World, like other Nintendo titles, requires a persistent internet connection to play. What Is Dr. Mario World?

Dr, Mario World casts you in the role of a doctor trying to kill viruses. You do this by placing colored pills in the right place. Just think Tetris but with pills rather than blocks. However, unlike Tetris, you can take your time in placing your pills.

As with most mobile games these days, Dr. Mario World is free-to-play. However, the in-app purchases mean there's plenty of opportunity to spend money. You won't necessarily need to spend any money, but the game is designed to tempt you into doing so.

Like bad medicine, we've been served a lot of mediocre puzzle games on mobile in recent years – mostly an endless parade of poor Candy Crush clones. Good news: Nintendo is trying to put a change that by calling in its head doctor.
