The app is primarily focused on tracking these tasks and checking them off, but you also view these tasks in a daily agenda format. Todoist is available to download for free on iOS, Android, and Mac devices.

GoodNotes lets users create digital “notebooks” into which they can record their scribbles. There’s a great degree of customization available when it comes to notebook paper, and users can choose their preferred line spacing and color, which is a nice touch. GoodNotes is best used on the iPad with an Apple Pencil. The app offers a wide range of digital drawing tools and pen types, and owners of the newer, second-generation Apple Pencil can use the stylus’s “double-tap” feature to quickly switch between their pen and eraser. If you don’t have an Apple Pencil, GoodNotes does allow users to type notes into a notebook using a traditional text box and the on-screen virtual keyboard, but this route is far more cumbersome.

Classic Notes+ is a note taking app that looks a lot like the iPhone stock Notes app or AK Notepad on Android, but with a lot more features mindlessly yet seamlessly thrown in. On the surface, it's an ordinary notepad - you write, you type, you note, it really has everything a note taking app should have (import txt files, sharing notes, etc.) - but hidden inside are nutty features like conversion options, tip calculator, weather, time, Wikipedia search, and a ton more bat-shit crazy options that don't really belong in a note-taking app but are nice to have as a backup.

Zoho Notebook is a free app that makes note-taking simple, but to be really useful, it needs a web version and better organizational features.This free app from Zoho gives you virtual notebooks with designer covers to store card style notes. The covers make it easy to segregate and identify different notebooks. You can also choose fonts, font size and colours as per your preference. Zoho Notebook is available across Windows, Mac, iOS and Android. Zoho Notebook lets you create notes in 6 categories: text notes, checklists, audio notes, photo notes, sketches and document notes.

Simplenote is a simple but neat way to coordinate all of your notes. Very simple in design, but the app allows you to add notes, add tags, share notes and make lists + tasks + reminders. Simplenote is available as a free download for Linux, mac OS, Windows as well as iOS and Android. Your lists and notes are synchronized on all your devices at any time. Simplenote allows you to save notes in plain text. All you need to do is sign up for an account and you can start using it right away. Recently Simplenote has added markdown syntax. Simplenotes’ synchronization is blazing fast. Changes you make on other devices will sync nearly instantly on other devices. There’s not too much functionality around everything… but more of a blank slate approach.

LectureNotes is an excellent note taking app for students and teachers on Android devices who are interested in serious lecture note-taking. As stated by the creators at Acadoid Developer the app was designed while having a user at university /school in mind. For instance, an educator could easily use LectureNotes for teaching (by writing on the device and projecting the screen content) or a student for crating notebooks, draw and write notes.
