    The application Mazaam is an engaging and animated app for children to develop their understanding of music through a range of games and levels. It is ideal for parents to work alongside their child, play games with them, and check their understanding. The audio is excellent, the animations are exciting and engaging, and the sharing collaborations with parents or teachers is an excellent opportunity. The games are full of fun and colour, and students wouldn’t be able to recognize that they are learning, as they will be having a lot of fun!

    The application Tonal Harmony Analysis provides users with the opportunity to input a range of different chords, and identify the suitability of the chord progressions. It provides users with the analysis of each chord progression, offering a range of different options and choices. The app would analyse each option, and identify whether the options worked with different harmonic analysis rules. It can identify potential issues, and explain them, so that you can make a more suitable choice. This is an excellent app, particularly for A Level students, who have a huge amount of rules to learn, and this can be very difficult to teach without the students losing their creativity and musicality.

    Note Quest is a great app which helps people of all ages to learn and review or drill all the notes needed to become a competent piano or keyboard player. Through levelled sequences of fun and enjoyable piano practice ‘games’, the app helps the user to learn the notes of the keyboard quickly and successfully. The app is highly engaging and simple to use and although the graphics are more suited to a child user it would be extremely useful for anyone who is learning the piano. It could be used as an introduction to the notes of the keyboard, an aid for practice between lessons or for use by a piano teacher as a resource within lessons.

It is aimed towards any student wanting to develop their understanding and keyboard skills, and covers not only the skills to play the keyboard, but also the theory behind this, development of this as a musician, and a range of songs to work through.  The display is very simple to navigate and understand,  and the course is really interesting and versatile.

    The application ‘Theory Works’ is a course of explanations and exercises to work your way through the theoretical understanding in preparation for music theory exams with ABRSM. It is aimed towards any student that is looking to improve their theoretical understanding, but particularly those who are completing the ABRSM exams, from Grades 1 to 5. The display is very simple to navigate and understand, and needs no further instruction. The use of the explanations are helpful, aided by diagrams where suitable, and further exercises to practise. This app is designed to give students some interactive enjoyment when improving their theoretical understanding, with instant feedback and recognition for accurate answers, without necessarily having a music theory teacher, or to aid alongside this.

It is aimed towards any student interested in understanding their voice and improving their singing from absolute beginnings, to developing the complexities and understanding the depth of singing through use of breathing, tone and control. The display is very easy to navigate and understand, and needs no further instruction. The use of the videos is engaging and helpful, aided by diagrams where suitable, and further exercises to practice. This app is designed to give students some interactive enjoyment when improving their singing, without necessarily having to have a singing teacher too, and being able to practice in their own home.

    ‘Baby Mozart Children’s Music’ is a unique application that is guaranteed to help improve your babies sleep and help develop their brain by listening to music. The application is full of content and includes high quality popular classical music tracks, lullaby’s, audio flashcards, nursery rhymes and much more. The app is free from in-app adverts although there are in-app purchases that relate to other musical packages that you can purchase such as Popular Kids songs, Children’s Classic songs, Christmas Classics and more.

    The app Tonara is an audio-based app. It is aimed towards any learners of any musical instrument. It is very easy to understand how to progress through the app, and there are clear instructions given for the teacher, and a clear helpful chat in order to clarify any questions. This app is designed to give students the guidance in order to ensure their practice is completed in between lessons, with opportunity for reward, and guidance from the teacher.

    KiddZtube is a video-quiz app that has selected and sanitised a vast range of YouTube videos making them safe for children to use and free from distractions. A group of teachers have selected the videos and written context-specific questions for essentially pre-school children to learn.

    This app is designed to build and develop your keyboard skills and pitch identification. It takes you through from basic songs using animals to identify notes, to developing to more difficult songs, removing colours to ensure further complexity, and then eventually removing the animal, so that the pupil can identify the note purely by where it belongs on the stave and on the keyboard. There are also flashcards in order to explain each note, and where it belongs on the stave, before moving onto the next one.

It provides insight and awareness of how to monitor your listening ability based on your personalised hearing capacity. It also helps to prevent hearing loss by providing exercises each day to monitor your daily hearing in each ear, and equalises the sound of any song you listen to via the app to personalise the sound to your own personal hearing capacity. It can also be shared with other users, and also monitors your progress in your hearing ability daily, providing charts of progress. A great app this is ideal for anyone who listens to music frequently, or is at risk of high Sound Pressure Level damage, by making the user more aware of their hearing ability and potential loss.

    This app is designed to build and develop your aural skills in rhythm and pitch identification. It takes you through from basic rhythmic and pitch understanding and simple interactive questions, to much more advances understanding of chord progressions, interval identification and sight-reading and sight-singing of far higher complexity, including jazz workshops and customised exercises. Each lesson takes you through a brief explanation of the topic, and then a completion of a listening and response task, before moving on to the next exercise, until completion of the chapter.

    YouCompose is a compositional software for any musician interested in composing using either traditional or non-traditional practices. It provides you with a wide range of options in order to develop compositional skills, through recording, editing and manipulation. This can then be shared as an audio file or as a pdf across a range of platforms, giving opportunity for feedback and critique. An absolutely brilliant find, particularly for focusing new musicians on how to compose, harmonise, and develop more complexities to their compositions. Excellent accuracy through recording live and use of MIDI, and editing techniques.

    Rockford’s Rock Opera Parts 1 to 4 app is an inspiring musical story created by Matthew Sweetapple, Steve Punt and Elaine Sweetapple. The app uses stunning graphics, animation and music to teach students about extinction, ecology and biodiversity. Join Rockford the dog and his owner Moog on their travels as they discover new animals and places in this truly magical adventure. The application is free from generic adverts and offers no in-app purchases. However, there are internal links for products within the Rockford’s Rock Opera range.

    Step by Step sight-reading exercises for beginner piano, focused on accuracy of notes and rhythm over a range of difficulties. Can be collaborated between many users in order to set certain tasks and view their results. A great app, particularly for individual tutoring or learning piano in a formal manner. Excellent accuracy, as the app listens to the performer playing on a live piano, and assesses their accuracy in pitch and rhythm, and provides with an overall score.

    Clapper – A rhythm and clap game is a unique application that is suitable for ages 9 and above, however with some assistance even younger children can play. The app is a mix of digital rhythm games and traditional hand-clapping games. Join the clapper monkeys as you explore deep into the jungle to unlock new songs and challenges.     LAMI find notes app is an educational app to help children to train their ears to find the perfect musical pitch and enjoy the musical world. This apps uses the characters of the multi-award-winning animated series LAMI. Including Best film for children, LAMI was selected for more than 100 international film festivals. The educational game based app introduces children to a variety of musical instruments and sounds.
