Basic letter recognition, early reading skills, memory, creativity, observation. Kids can also think about family relationships, friendships, working together, and being kind, especially if parents emphasize and talk about this content.

    Music Sparkles sparks creativity and love of music with its interactive instruments and multi-touch play. The free version of Music Sparkles has users playing 4 octaves of a xylophone and banging away on the drums with accompaniment from 5 other instruments.     Mazaam is an engaging and animated app for children to develop their understanding of music through a range of games and levels. It is ideal for parents to work alongside their child, play games with them, and check their understanding. The audio is excellent, the animations are exciting and engaging, and the sharing collaborations with parents or teachers is an excellent opportunity. The games are full of fun and colour, and students wouldn’t be able to recognize that they are learning, as they will be having a lot of fun!

    Note Quest is a great app which helps people of all ages to learn and review or drill all the notes needed to become a competent piano or keyboard player. Through levelled sequences of fun and enjoyable piano practice ‘games’, the app helps the user to learn the notes of the keyboard quickly and successfully. The app is highly engaging and simple to use and although the graphics are more suited to a child user it would be extremely useful for anyone who is learning the piano. It could be used as an introduction to the notes of the keyboard, an aid for practice between lessons or for use by a piano teacher as a resource within lessons.

    Toca Dance is an open-ended app that gives kids a platform to create and imagine. In this case, kids choreograph a dance routine for up to three dancers and then watch the characters perform on stage. Toca Dance is available to download on iOS device.

This piano learning app is best suited for children 7-11. Piano Maestro Android and Piano Maestro iOS both offer the same interactive interface that allow children to learn how to play piano.

    Piano Tiles 2 is a rhythm game that challenges you to play some of the most popular songs in the world using a piano keyboard on the screen of your iOS or Android. The difficulty lays in the fact that the piano keys are moving at a very high speed. The game's music selection includes only songs that are well-known all over the world, mostly classical music, such as various sonatas and symphonies from Mozart, some movements by Chopin and Bach, and others like Jingle Bells and Pachelbel's Canon.

    My Backpack is a jam-packed app for early years learning and beyond. It offers a number of activities for young children. It was developed by the award-winning nonprofit, Waterford Research Institute, as a classroom supplement to be used alongside Waterford Early Learning, a research-based adaptive software curriculum. It features 4 mental maths games, 16 traditional tales, 35 songs and 5 nursery rhyme read-alongs.
