Geometry Apps

Looking for some Geometry help? Our list of geometry apps help teaching and learning the geometry concepts in simple ways. These apps helps you master how different geometrical shapes work in the real world and its applications to solving problems in real life. The list includes geometry games that expose students to interesting topics such as 2D and 3D geometric shapes, and attributes of shapes.

Geometry is about shape and size of things, and can be a tricky mathematical area of learning for students if they are not easily able to visualise and manipulate the shapes being referred to. The challenge for any teacher is to find apps which bring these geometry concepts to life – in a relevant and fun way – for their students.

Here are the best geometry apps for you to learn geometry most effortlessly.

Geometry Help Apps

Geometry Pad is a sophisticated app that gives students an opportunity to explore geometry independently with a host of tools. With Geometry Pad, users create basic geometric shapes, discover and change their properties, and calculate metrics.

The following tools are built into the application: point, angle, line, ray, segment, perpendicular bisector, tangent, triangle, quadrilateral, polygon, regular polygon, arc, sector, circle, ellipse, parabola, and hyperbola. Documents can be saved to your device, iCloud or Dropbox. Export formats include PDF and image.

Devices: Android and iOS

Geometry Solver is a simple-to-use app for solving geometry problems. It covers a variety of 2D and 3D shapes and lets the user enter values for any of the variables. The app then uses these to derive other properties of the shape. Geometry Solver is a great way for students to make sure that their understanding of geometry is sound.

Devices: iOS

Shapes 3D Geometry Learning app is a great iPad and iPhone app that will help students understand geometry for Key Stage 3. Students can learn and explore different types of three dimensional solids including prisms, pyramids, Platonic solids and solids of revolution. Users can pick and choose from up to 27 unique shapes and unfold them into different net combinations. Each shape works beautifully with the option to highlight the vertices and edges of a prism or colour selected elements of a pyramid. Shapes 3D Geometry Learning is easy to navigate and uses simple gesture control to zoom and rotate shapes in any direction.

Devices: Android and iOS

Shape Match is a fun educational game for kids to learn and practice 2D and 3D shapes. Click on the windows of the Monster Mansion to reveal the friendly monsters inside and match objects to shapes or objects to words. Children can play by memory or while seeing the objects. All shapes are supported by audio instruction. Shapes: triangle, sphere, trapezoid, cube, hexagon, crescent, cylinder, cone, heart, rhombus, half circle, circle, oval, octagon, star, pyramid, rectangle, parallelogram, square, and quarter circle.

Shapes is a fun educational activity to help children learn basic properties of simple geometric figures. Children will practice looking for differences and similarities between shapes to complete puzzles. Shapes! gets progressively more difficult as children complete the stages.

Devices: iPhone, iPad and Android

Dragon Shapes is an app that will help your child discover different geometrical shapes and develop spatial visualisation abilities. Dragon Shapes is a great app to introduce and learn geometry figures. It all starts with a story about a friendly dragon that lived in a village but then got lost. With the scales he left behind you will have to build geometric shapes that will help you to rescue and return the dragon to the people.

Devices: iOS

Cyberquest Shape Quest is a geometry game that challenges kids to use geometry and spatial reasoning to hone their problem solving skills. CyberChase Shape Quest app focuses on understanding of shape and angles. The app consists of three games that each cover different areas of shape and angle and which are suitable for a range of abilities. These begin at quite an easy level but progress to some quite challenging geometric concepts.

Devices: iOS

DragonBox Elements is beautifully illustrated game that introduces children to geometry and geometric proof. Children are guided through the game and are introduced to different shape-based characters. As they progress through the game , they must solve different puzzles that require them to draw and identify different shapes.  Whilst playing the game, children explore the properties of shapes and angles.

Devices: Android,iOS

Math: Talk math with Leon! is a unique mathematical learning platform that guides the child through a proven method for teaching basic maths using vocal dialogue and visual prompts. The Math 8 Learning programme includes lessons, exercises, and quizzes designed to help your child engage and understand Mathematics. The application is initially free and includes an in-app subscription for further content. The application is free from in-app adverts and is suitable for students aged 8 years and above.

Devices: iOS

Good geometry apps for the 11+ age group are like hens teeth, pretty hard to find. After testing out some others we found this was the most useful for 11+ preparation. Although it is aimed at SAT’s test students, much of what it covers is relevant to the 11+.

Devices: iOS

Geoboard is a tool for exploring a variety of mathematical topics introduced in the elementary and middle grades. Learners stretch bands around the pegs to form line segments and polygons and make discoveries about perimeter, area, angles, congruence, fractions, and more.

Devices: iPhone and iPad

King of Maths helps your child learn basic algebra, geometry, division, and other math equation. The app is designed in form of a game; so your child chooses between two characters and complete mathematical challenges in addition and subtraction. When children play this game, they are challenged to figure out missing numbers before they can arrive to an answer.  The game will also help your child to understand the basic concept in math. King of Maths is regarded as one of the best free math apps because it was developed to improve the mathematical knowledge of children in elementary schools.
