    Cool Maths Games is an app containing a huge selection of games including some targetted at math and thinking skills.  It is downloadable for iOS (iPad and iPhone) and Android devices but also has a web-app version available for all devices. On all platforms, after you download Cool Math Games, it can be played for free alongside advertisements.  On the web-app, a subscription can enhance the experience including the removal of ads.  The app is rated as suitable for children aged 9 and above.

    Kids Academy is an educational program for kids to learn and practice through the fun and engaging activities: educational games, interactive worksheets, quizzes, songs, books, videos and more. Kids can use the web-based version on computers or tablets or the Kids Academy app for iOS and Android.

    Discord is a voice and text chat app designed to help gamers talk to each other in real time. While playing a game on their device, users can log into Discord and enter a group chat with one or more other gamers so they can talk while they play. The app is free, and it's available on just about any device. Whether you use Linux, Mac OS, or Windows, the desktop client is smooth and responsive. If you can’t install it, there’s a web client that works just as well. Discord is also available on Android and iOS devices.

One iPad is the controller and they flip the cards to the other devices on request. The game has an immediate ‘social’ property that is an example of technology enhancing the social process.

    BlockStarPlanet is like Minecraft meets RPG meets social networking app. Players fight each other in arenas with a variety of weapons, but there's no blood or gore. Chat is filtered, but players can get around filters with some creativity. BlockStarPlanet is available to download on iOS and Android devices.

    This application is essentially a reading app with a twist. The twist is the fact that the stories can be narrated by you or anyone else of your choice and the programme is interspersed by educational content and games. All of the child’s interactions are recorded and the parent can look them up on the management dashboard. The app developer has stated that the stories and games provide a complete curriculum for children between 2 and 6 years old. They also have an Arabic version.

    Toca Nature is a creative and interactive app where the children can use their imagination to create their own worlds; we love the way the animals come to life and children can see the habitats they are best suited to. Children really enjoy the animal aspect and the fact that you can feed them in their habitats with the food collected.  The educational focus is on observation and experimentation rather than a specific objective.

    Hopster app is a free app that is available for iOS (iPad and iPad) and Android devices. It helps to develop communication skills and is best suited for young children over the age of 1. At the time of this Hopster review, parents loved Hopster app because it provides a safe place for young children to access educational and entertaining media.  Famous characters, actors, and writers all feature in its superb content.

    FunBrain is a educational game site for grades K-8. FunBrain.com offers a lot of fun, interactive learning games for kids in grades K-8, plus tools for parents and teachers. Kids can search by grade level or topic. FunBrain’s games help students build on what they have learned in class and acquire new skills in reading, math and problem solving.

    Cargo-bot is a coding and programming app that will be a challenge at all levels for students studying Computer Studies in Key Stage 2. The app is fairly challenging and we recommend that the students work through the tutorials before attempting the tasks. The app has numerous levels and a scoring system where maximum stars can be achieved if the programming of the robotic arm is correct. Although there are tutorials we found even the easy levels challenging. Each level has a hints section that may help you solve the coding. Students may need some assistance at first but once the basics are mastered they are free to tackle the multiple levels.
