Books for Kids and Students

From picture books to graphic novels, fantasy to family fun, here you’ll find books for kids and students to amuse and amaze, to offer first experiences and to fire young imaginations.

Picture books help children develop a sense of self. The theatrical aspect of picture books helps to keep all your students engaged and interested. They play a critical role in learning, helping students develop self-awareness and teaching them how to make inferences, among other things.

We all know that reading is one of the most important fundamental skills children (or anyone) must master to succeed - to succeed in school and to succeed in life. Reading expands a child's vocabulary, develops their critical thinking skills, and improves their communication skills, amongst many other benefits. There are several reading apps that are designed to help children develop their literacy skills.

Most of these children's book apps are appropriate for beginning readers (or those learning how to read), but a few are still applicable for proficient readers as well (especially the apps focusing on comprehension).

Blinkist is one of the best book summary app for the entrepreneurship, self-development, life hacking, and science genres. From its collection of over 2500 e-books, the user can read and listen to the short summaries in less than 15 minutes. Download the latest version of Blinkist for Android and iOS.

Cheeky Beasts is a book app filled with poems about quirky animals. Everything is (optionally) narrated and animated with great style. Each poem comes with an activity, such as spelling a word from the poem, associating phonics with words, or finding words that rhyme, but the main attraction is the poems themselves. Great for parents looking for something a little off the beaten path.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is a retelling of the classic television holiday tale in interactive book form. The app features numerous sound clips from the show and does not deviate from the script one iota.

ReadEra is a surprisingly popular ebook reader app. It has all of the basics, including various reading modes along with support for PDF, EPUB, WORD, MOBI, FB2, DJVU, TXT, and the super rare CHM formats. It doesn’t require any services or anything like that. There is also a split-screen mode where you can read multiple books or documents at the same time. However, we really only recommend that on larger screen phones or tablets. This one is surprisingly good, actually, and it seems to be completely free.

Bo's Bedtime Story is a great way for your child to practice how to get ready for bed each evening. Bo's 10 interactive pages walks through each step of getting ready for bed, from picking out pajamas to taking a bath and then settling down to sleep. Each page has an interactive element which reinforces an early learning skill like sorting, matching and counting. By listening carefully and comprehending what the story is asking, your child will easily be able to complete all the activities and then be ready to start their own nighttime routine. We love how this app can be used as a cool down before bedtime.

This interactive app takes you on a 30 page journey that starts at dimension zero and works towards the fourth dimension. It explains what how a fourth spatial dimension would interact with ours, and how we would see it in a three-dimensional context, by partially comparing it to how objects can appear three-dimensional in a two-dimensional plane (like any 3D video game, or just a drawing of a cube on a piece of paper), and expanding it out to a fourth-dimensional object's projection into three-dimensions. Each page includes detailed yet engaging text and interactive models that will help you grasp the concept.
