    KidzGrow is a skills development mobile application available for both iOS and Android devices. The app contains activities for children aged 0-6 and can be customised to a child’s age. Suggested activities support five domains of development: Gross motor skills, fine motor skills, cognitive skills,  speech-language skills, social skills. The app provides personalised feedback after a child has completed an activity and an overall progress summary for  each set of skills indicating the percentage of activities achieved, not achieved and not attempted.

The application is free from in-app purchases and free from in-app adverts. This application is suitable for parents with children aged 2 to 7 years of age.

    SmartFeed is an interesting app designed to help the parent/carer curate appropriate media into one intuitive programme based on a set of criteria determined by the child and/or the adult. As a parent rightly points out on the feedback video, when we were young we only had three TV channels to choose from, actually with me it was two, but now the children have a tremendous choice which can be delightful, but also daunting and dangerous.

    Paintpad is a delightful app that any pre-school child will enthusiastically engage with, any selection of space objects for colouring in is a staple diet for any parent needing to involve their child in a worthwhile activity. The importance of the application is twofold, firstly to engage the child in a learning activity that has educational benefit and secondly for the parent/teacher to monitor the activity of their children and develop a pattern of the progress they are making over a period of time.    Please note, the School/Nursery edition of this app requires a subscription, which includes activity sheets, a practitioner pack, and usage reporting.

The app is designed to limit and monitor the time a child can use a device and the type of applications they can use on it and when.     Qustodio is a free parental control app that offers simple tools to manage kids’ screen time, filter content and monitor or block apps kids use. Best of all it automagically reports kids’ online activity to you once installed.
