About Baby Games: RMB Knowledge Park

Baby Games: Knowledge park is an exciting educational learning app suitable for boys and girls aged 1 year and above. The app features four exciting themed zones that focus on Numbers, Colouring, Letters and shapes. Each zone provides a variety of educational, fun and engaging games that are child-friendly and beautifully presented. The application is free from in-app adverts and offers in-app purchases for further levels.

Baby Games: RMB Knowledge Park Review

Upon opening the application, the user is shown an engaging splash screen followed by the ‘Home’ dashboard. The ‘Home’ dashboard provides links to ‘New Games’ within the application which we are pleased to say has a parental lock. There is also a ‘Like’ icon, parental locked again, providing the user with access to write a review of the application. The ‘Home’ dashboard is supported by engaging music and delightful graphics. The developers may consider offering a ‘Settings’ option to adjust the volume throughout the application without using the buttons of the device as well as supporting other languages.

Once the ‘Play’ button has been pressed the user is shown the 4 exciting themed zones: “World of Numbers", "World of Colouring", "World of Alphabet" and "World of Shapes".

Each zone is beautifully presented and easy to navigate using the large directional arrows.

'World of Numbers': This zone provides 12 exciting games based on Numbers. Each game provides exciting graphics and animations along with a supporting narrative. Some of these games include:

‘Food Heroes’ – Here the child will place orders of food for burgers, chicken, doughnuts using the correct numerical value shown by the number of food items. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

‘Funny Number Quiz’ – Here the child needs to pick the correct numbers in numerical order using the clouds shown. Once again, the graphics are very easy to understand, colourful and engaging. Choosing an incorrect cloud will produce a rain cloud. Pressing the numbers shown will improve fine motor skills for your child. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Funny Factory Pizza' - Here the child needs to choose the correct number of required ingredients to create their pizza. Items include pepperoni, cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes and more. Simply ring the service below when your pizza is ready. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

We liked the time limit clock used in some levels, however, the use of such a clock may pressure the child when answering. The developers may consider removing this clock as an option, however, we did note that once the time limit elapsed another question simply appeared. The child also has unlimited attempts at getting the question correct. Some of our users often pressed the icons several times as they did not know the answer and were simply guessing. The developers may want to consider using a limited number of incorrect answers.

'World of Alphabet': This zone provides 12 exciting games based on letters. Some of these games include:

'Extreme Ski Race' - Here the child will need to navigate characters down an alpine slope by choosing the correct letter to win the race. An incorrect choice will make the character crash! This was one of our favourite games, highly engaging and great fun. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Funny fishing' - Here the child chooses letters to spell a word from the duck pond that in turn assembles a puzzle such as a mole, worm and Lynx. This is by far the most challenging game in this zone as some of the words may be hard to spell for younger users. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Magic Beach' – Here the child will solve several puzzles from cards that depict letters and various fruits, vegetables, animals, insects. This is excellent for pair matching and fine motor skills. The game is complete when the required number of items have been found.

'Interesting Photoshoot' - Here the child chooses letters to spell the name of the animal shown at the top of the screen. Using the camera takes a photo of the letter to complete the stars. This game not only focuses on fine motor skills when using the camera but is also great for spelling. An incorrect choice cannot be made as the camera does not work over the top of the wrong letters.

'World of Shapes': This zone provides 12 exciting games based on shapes. Find the appropriate shapes and colours hidden in the themed buildings: Ice Cream Museum, Candy Museum, Dino Museum and Toy Museum. Our users found this game quite challenging as some of the items are hidden well. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Space Photoshoot' - Here the child chooses shapes and colours using the camera to complete the stars. An incorrect choice cannot be made as the camera does not work over the top of the wrong letters. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Funny Running on Mud' – Here the child races a character along a muddy path jumping shapes that they have chosen correctly. An incorrect answer makes the character fall into the mud! Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'Funny Smiling Shapes' – Here the child needs to stack the shapes in the correct order according to the diagram shown. Not only is this excellent for shape recognition but also sequences. Once the user has answered three correctly the stars in the top left are complete and the user is shown a celebration screen.

'World of Colouring': This zone provides 12 exciting creative levels together with funny characters. Choose a picture and colour to your heart's content! We love the easy to use drag and colour paint tubes that fill the screen with delightful colours. Children can paint over colours if they are wrong and take a photo at the end which is saved to the device’s camera roll. This is ideal for a home or classroom situation where displays can be created. The developers may consider the ability to add letters for the user to personalise their picture. Colouring pages include sea/aquarium scenes, animal scenes and birds.

This application certainly has a vast amount of content that is not only engaging and great fun but also teaches many learning skills suitable for the identified age range. The user interface is easy to navigate and intuitive. Children will be able to use this application unsupported once they are up and running.

The developers can be commended for the fantastic, engaging games, animations and graphics. Moving forward the developers may want to consider the following:

•    Changing the character that celebrates the 3 stars being completed. This seemed to be same throughout.

•    Providing a reward once the game has been completed such as a prize or a toy that can be stored in a rewards screen or shop.

•    The ability to track which games and zones have been completed with stars or a tick.

•    The ability to be able to remove the time limit.

•    The use of a tracking screen to show how many questions have been attempted, incorrectly answered and played.
