    This is a free app whose aim is to make reading text as simple as it can possibly be. The app has been been developed by a Japanese company however it is based solely in the English language. To use the app you copy text from any website/webpage onto your phone or ipad and then the open the app. Once you have done so you are able to then read the text as it moves across the screen at whatever pace you chose. Although this is the sole purpose of the app it does allow the user to read text quicker and also helps them to improve their reading speed as they become use to the speed that it travels across the screen.

    The software application ‘Animotica - Video Editor & Movie Maker’ is an easy to use Video Editor, Movie Maker and Slideshow Video Maker for Windows 10. This application encompasses all the traditional tools you would expect from a high-quality piece of Video Editing software such as video trim, split, combine video and photos, add music, add voiceovers, scale, rotate, colour adjustment and so much more. The application is free but has some restrictions on the video content and presentation.     Otsimo is an educational game application developed for children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or learning difficulties. It provides users with the analysis of each chord progression, offering a range of different options and choices. The app would analyse each option, and identify whether the options worked with different harmonic analysis rules. The app allows you to interact with the above languages in a structured and contextualised way, which the users can follow at their own pace and according to their own ability level.  Through self-study, these lessons and the subsequent review exercises focus on reading, listening, and writing skills to gradually reveal key terms, linguistic structures and rules.

    BioBlox2D is an app which allows users to engage in a fun, stimulating, Tetris-like game that also develops their understanding of key Science concepts and challenges their existing Biology knowledge. BioBlox2D focuses on the Biological process of protein-ligand docking by allowing users to manipulate the orientation of a variety of different molecules in order for them to bind with the specific protein found at the bottom of the screen. The app centres on purposefully-designed and authentic texts and podcasts, which the users can read and/or listen to at their own pace and according to their own ability level.  Considering the user’s ability level, key words are made to stand out and referenced to an in-app lexicon sourced from online dictionaries.

    Equate is an app which collates a library of over 400 useful equations spanning across several subjects, and enables the user to initially solve problems, and then challenge themselves with questions to apply their understanding and to build confidence in using these formulas. Equate formulas cover Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Economics, and are suitable for a variety of age ranges dependent on the subject specifications taught. The app is supported by individual Youtube links specific to the equation chosen and Wikipedia pages to help the user expand on their understanding and offer instant support.

    flowkey app is a series of courses to help people from the very beginnings to the more able develop their piano skills. It is aimed towards any student wanting to develop their understanding and keyboard skills, and covers not only the skills to play the keyboard, but also the theory behind this, development of this as a musician, and a range of songs to work through.  The display is very simple to navigate and understand,  and the course is really interesting and versatile.

    From visiting the developer’s website it explains that this app is aimed at helping students in their preparation for taking the Graduate Record Examination, or GRE. This is a computer-based program that a large number of graduates take in the US and its aim to help gain a better understanding of their potential in the workplace. Within the test there is quite a large emphasis on the ability to understand and use English language correctly, and so this app helps students in this by aiding them in areas such as reading comprehension and the ability to write successful, detailed essays. The app is described as focussing on the 440 most frequently encountered words on the GRE and its aim is to help those graduates wishing to undertake the test a multi- sensory approach to this. The app is clearly aimed at this purpose and these reasons, however, that does not mean that the content and the approach cannot be used to help other users from improving their own abilities in regards to the English Language regardless of whether they are taking the test or not.
