This app is designed as a one stop solution to revise pre-algebra (number work) through video based tutorials, covering a range of skills from fractions, decimals, percentages and ratio to missing angles in shapes and trigonometry. Upon opening the app the user is presented with a series of chapters, covering the essential mathematical topics for pre-algebra. When a topic is selected a further page lists the skills within this topic and gives the users the option to either watch a video or practice questions.

The videos are taught by direct instruction and are presented as a series of step-by-step sub-skills needed to master the skill being taught. Examples are used throughout the video to extend learning with explanations given at each stage. Lessons are clearly thought out and examples prepared in advance ensuring no time is wasted switching between sub-skills. The videos take the approach of a revision guide, presuming that students have encountered the material before, focussing on rules and procedures rather than delving into the deeper understanding of concepts or reasoning.

Once videos have been watched, students are able to attempt these skills on the practice page. On one side of this page, users are shown a question, four possible answers and a scoring system at the bottom indicating an overall percentage. On the other side, there is also space to scribble and makes notes. These features really come to life when a report is generated later. This document is extremely powerful as it displays all the data mentioned previously and can be printed and shared. This means from a student's perspective, they can see correct/incorrect answers and make improvements, they can also share their results with their teachers, parents or friends. From the teachers perspective this report gives an overview of the pupils' understanding but also allows teachers to delve deeper by viewing any notes made by students and helping identify any errors and misconceptions. The questions on this page are designed to extend students learning, with the first few questions regarded as simple questions taught in the videos, while the latter questions use skills taught in previous sessions and draw on other elements of mathematics, thus extending students learning.

It should be noted that videos are in American English and skills seem to be mapped to this curriculum, however, as with most mathematical work, the concepts are the same, just some of the expressions used are different. In terms of content itself, the app covers a range of content, from the most basic level such as essential numbers skills: integers, fractions, decimals percentages, ratios, proportions and probability. It also includes basic algebraic concepts: forming, expressing and solving one and two step equations and inequalities, alongside a brief introduction to graphing and linear functions. The third area it delves into is shape and space, exploring concepts such as missing angles in shape, Pythagoras theorem, trigonometry, area and volume. And finally, it explores data analysis, coving a range of topics from frequency tables and histograms, to box and whisker plots and the interpretation of graphs. Although mapped to the America curriculum, the range of content in this app ranges from primary school (KS2) to secondary school (KS3 and GCSE).

Given the breadth of content, an excellent app providing structured learning through video based tutorials and reinforced through practice and repetition, certainly worthy of a 4* rating.
